Sweetheart Table - Valentine's Day Decor

I recently introduced a seasonal nook into our apartment. I came up with the idea, after admiring my fellow blogger's beautiful homes during all of the wonderful seasons throughout the year. Living in Florida is absolutely amazing, but we don't really have seasons. It's pretty much HOT all year-round! It's kind of hard to get into the decorating spirit, or to want to completely change up your home decor when it doesn't really "feel" like a new season. So, I came up with the idea of dedicating a specific spot in our apartment that I decorate for each season, holiday, and special occasion!

Since my fall decor was collecting dust, I decided there was no better time to switch up my decor, for Valentine's Day! I had no idea where I wanted to start but I knew, off the bat, I wanted something with color. After looking at my brown and white fall decor for months, I was ready for a nice pop of color for a change. I brainstormed and decided my color scheme would be gold, white, and red(of course).

Once I narrowed down my colors the ideas started to flow, so I headed to my local Goodwill store for ideas and in hopes of finding some great deals. I'm all about saving money, especially when I know my decor changes frequently.  It's not ideal to invest tons of money when I know I'm going to be working on several small projects throughout the year. I struck gold at the Goodwill and found a few pieces I could incorporate into my nook.

For $30 I purchased:

  • 2 Lamps
  • 1 Large Vintage Mirror
  • 1 Pitcher
  • 1 Picture Frame
  • 2 Cans of spray paint

My first task was to paint the pitcher and both the lamps. It was a struggle to decide on whether or not to paint the lamps red; but I decided on painting them gold since it's more neutral and I could get more use of them. Everything turned out exactly how I envisioned!

I wanted to create an inviting feel to my sweetheart table so I added a few personal touches. I chose a picture of me and the hubby, from our wedding! I painted the matting the same color as the pitcher. I added a small cake tray topped with mini bud vases filled with red and white M&M's(the hubby's favorites). I found the sweet "XO" letters on sale at Michaels and decided to use the spray paint used on the lamps and pitcher to give the perfect touch!

The final finish was adding the banner and the gold marbled tray, which matched the lamps perfectly! I added fresh red and white tulips to complete the look. Voila - a simple and easy project for any budget to spruce up your home for Valentine's Day!
